hi, i am areg gevorgyan
I build companies and institutions at the intersection of technology and Armenia's development. Over the past decade I've co-founded and operated ventures across software, AI, healthcare, hospitality and agriculture.
current projects
labz.ai - AI product studio and talent placement platform. we build AI-native products and embed senior engineering teams with companies abroad — making Armenian tech talent visible and accessible to the world. the work is practical: real products, real teams, real clients.
yeye.fm - a music platform built at the intersection of human taste and machine intelligence. music has always been how people translate feeling into something shareable. yeye.fm explores what happens when AI becomes part of that translation layer — not replacing the human ear, but extending it. an experiment in designing systems where the human and the algorithm genuinely collaborate.
previously
thermaiscan - combines AI and thermal imaging into a smartphone-based tool for breast cancer pre-screening — designed for first-line healthcare workers and remote doctors who operate without specialists or expensive equipment. the goal was simple and hard: make early detection possible everywhere, not just where the infrastructure already exists.
istc foundaiton - one of Armenia's leading technology and innovation hubs, co-founded with IBM in 2016. one of the first institutions in the region to run structured AI and machine learning programs. built from the ground up over a decade as CEO; now serving on the Board of Trustees.
lele vayots dzor - 120-hectare project in Vayots Dzor built around a simple belief: that Armenia's regions have as much potential as its capital, and that real development happens slowly, on the ground. the work spans sustainable viticulture, hospitality, and education — now in the hands of a dedicated team, growing at its own pace.
my thesis
Armenia’s development isn’t about quick fixes or flashy headlines—it’s about rolling up our sleeves and doing the work that actually matters. It starts with education, because if we don’t give people the skills to compete, we’re just treading water. We need institutions that actually function—real systems that build trust, not bureaucracy for its own sake. And we’ve got to stop pretending that everything revolves around Yerevan. The regions have talent, potential, and grit, and they need a shot at real opportunities. The truth is, there’s no magic wand here. Real change takes time, patience, and projects that don’t just look good in a proposal but deliver impact for decades. Armenia has what it takes—the brains, the heart, and the strategic edge.
